Matador Field, home of Cal State Northridge baseball, and the custom tie-back netting structure from Judge Netting

Cal State Northridge is a campus of the California State University system. It was founded first as the Valley satellite campus of Cal State Los Angeles, amongst old walnut and citrus groves in the beautiful San Fernando Valley.

Matador Field, located on Lindley Avenue between Halsted and Lassen Streets, is the home for all Cal State Northridge baseball home games. With a current capacity of more than 1,000 fans, and dimensions of 325 feet down the left and right field lines, 375 feet to the power alleys and 400 feet to straightaway center field, Matador Field has been a staple of the campus since the first game played in 1961.

Since its introduction in 1961, Matador Field has undergone many improvements in an effort to provide as comfortable an experience as possible for fans, coaches, and players alike. Renovations to the field began in 1975 and in three years, the facility had a redesigned infield, an electronic scoreboard donated by Sam Leeper and Fred Yates, a batting cage (the first covered batting cage on any college campus on the West Coast at the time), a protective chain link fence around the field, a snack bar, concrete walkways and bleachers with a press box. Recent improvements to the field include a custom tie-back sports netting structure with reinforced steel poles designed by Judge Netting, Inc. for optimum view of the field from the stands.

Fans of Matador Softball & Baseball can enjoy a view of the Cal State field free from the obstruction of steel poles, with this custom tie-back system of sports netting designed by Judge Netting, Inc.

Rio Hondo Golf Club right side after new netting structure

At the Rio Hondo Golf Club in Downey California, the existing golf course netting needed an upgrade. The wooden poles with chain link top to bottom, at 70 feet high were replaced with a steel pole design based on a ball trajectory ranging from 60 to 130 feet tall, and high strength UV treated custom manufactured polyester netting. Pole pads and a vinyl coated chain link buffer at the bottom of the barrier were installed for safety, vandalism deterrent, and to prolong the life of the new netting.

The Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California is known for it’s impressive golf course. Judge Netting recently re- netted the protective netting structure in the off season, to accommodate  the customers needs. Steel poles at 60 feet tall, with extra high strength galvanized guy wire, 20,000 lb. galvanized earth anchors, and heavy duty galvanized steel hardware give support to this massive structure that ensures golf course safety on BOTH sides of the course, while blending in as not to distract from all of the natural scenic beauty of the location. Cars driving along the neighboring road know they are completely safe from stray golf balls, while motorists enjoy the view. Success!

When the Bobby Bonds Soccer Complex in Riverside, California needed a strong, reliable, sports netting to be constructed, Judge Netting did not take the task lightly. The Sports Netting Structure constructed was completely custom, built with both the safety and aesthetic value in mind.
